THE QUE

WE’RE HERE TO SCULPTURE THE SUB-CULTURE

Frontman/Songwriter David Lear hooked up with musicians Lazy Brad Lewis, Bill Manley and Paul “Dim Wanker” Sercu and a creative bond was struck. These pioneering college alternative 80's rockers blazed a trail with their independent releases "Beatboys" (Dragonmist Records), "Dream Palace" (Nightwork Entertainment) sometimes compared to Roky Erickson’s 13th Floor Elevators or the “West Coast” Replacements . A hellacious tour followed sharing the stage with The Bangles, Guns & Roses, Circle Jerks, Redd Cross, Human Drama and others. From calamities that saw stage brawls, blown electrical fuses, groupie lingerie hangin' from chandeliers, limousine breakdowns and winding up with a five car pile up on stretch of California highway, all brought to you by the band van and their drunken roadies.

Also propelling the spectaculars was friend/music biz guru Michael Goldstone (Pearl Jam, Charlie Sexton) who even posed as guitarist for The Que video "Room To Talk" and Producer Mike Sikkas who recorded the antics on tape culminating in the release of “Dream Palace”. Engineers Doug Henning (Mystic Studios) & Michael Gabby (Chez Recorders) captured their sound on “Beatboys” and later infamous Producer John X recorded additional tracks for “Dream Palace” when he wasn’t busy making out with the bands chicks. Assisting career moves was Manager Pearl Lucero (then president of "Women In Music Organization” now film mogul) where the band was most eager to play at events for free to a room full of girls.

EAT THE SIDES I PRAY YOU

Their single "Molly's In A Movie" for actress Molly Ringwald gained airplay with Rodney Bingenheimer and other alternative markets. A song written by David Lear "Suite #1 (In A Major Way)" was placed in a feature film called "Rock & The Money Hungry Party Girls" starring non other than The Que guitarist Paul Sercu playing acress Bunty Baily. "Shake It Up" featuring guitarist Mark Bosch (Ian Hunter, Triggers) was used for music on Disney's "Epcot Magazine-Women On Wheels" TV show.

Overall, the music played well at college radio and other target markets. They received good attention, but after the fateful wreck on lonesome Hwy 99 during the West Coast tour the band had a hard time recovering from personal injuries, loss of the tour bus and ensuing lawsuits. Lear and Wanker  took a break. Frustrated, David Lear put his attention into his poetry  and managing/producing punk/goth bands Sativa Luv Box , Patrick Mata, Shadow Project, Roz Williams, Eva O, Hari Kari. Sercu formed Voodoo On A Bad Day which played local LA shows and recently released his band Thrasher Cadillac in 2009. Lazy Brad Lewis continued a solo career releasing two CDs in 2009. In 2006 David Lear released alt. country recording of The Nob Hill Billys “Dang” in 2006 along with two scripts published in paperback. He followed that with “Elgin Farm” a book of ballads & poems. Lear and Sercu would later meet up again and with assistance from Drummer Dutch Schultz (Rik L Rik, F-Word) recorded an album released mid 2009 under the name Faith River Worship ( www.faithriverworship.com ) which covered a mix of moody to edgy rock music sounds. Proving you can’t keep an bunch of old punk rockers down.
